ECFA board member Ed Weigl has been awarded the Order of the Guardian by North Carolina Commissioner of Insurance Mike Causey. The Order of the Guardian is awarded in recognition of the character, integrity, service and honor of insurance industry professionals. Commissioner Causey, who also serves as the state’s fire marshal, made the presentation on June 6, 2018. Ed is one of the first recipients of this award.
Since 1968, Ed has been an active member of Township Number 7 Volunteer Fire Department in Craven County, holding many positions in the department including chief. He has served as a board member of the ECFA since 2012 and is chair of the Scholarship Committee. Ed served in the United States Coast Guard and retired from the Craven County Sheriff’s Office after 32 years of service. In 2011, Ed was awarded the Order of the Longleaf Pine.
