Chief George McGill of the Harrells Volunteer Fire Department was awarded a Life Membership from the ECFA at the July meeting in Nash County. Chief McGill has served as fire chief of the department for over 50 years and is still active. Harrells VFD is located in Sampson County, and Chief McGill is a past president of the Sampson County Firefighters Association.
During his 50 years of service Chief McGill has led the department through numerous apparatus purchases, station upgrades and establishing a satellite station as well as through several hurricanes, floods, storms and other emergency incidents.
Chief McGill is also a Veteran and is active in Siloam Baptist Church, and his community.
