A wonderful benefit that rostered fire departments that are NCSFA members enjoy is the Firefighters Relief Fund. The Firefighters’ Relief Fund (FRF) was established in 1907 to financially assist firefighters that are injured while performing their duties, and to insure that no firefighter would become financially destitute through no fault of their own. Uses of the Fund have grown and there are many eligible uses of the Fund such as scholarships to
firefighters and their dependent children.
The NC State Firefighters’ Association has developed a guide to help departments with questions they may have regarding the management and acceptable uses for their local Relief Fund. The guide explains the minimum and maximum fund limits as well as how to submit Relief Fund projects and requests.
