Between Hurricane Florence and Tropical Storm Michael, the majority of the ECFA region experienced unprecedented flooding and storm damage. Many ECFA members were personally affected, some even losing their entire homes. Not to mention automobiles and other personal items. These storms brought wide spread devastation to say the least. But they also brought out the best in the Fire Service.
Countless firefighters put aside their needs to help others in their communities. Other firefighters rushed in from across the state and the country to help as well. Many opened their wallets.
Now that we are deep in the recovery process, there are many firefighters that still need assistance, whether financially or in the restoration of their primary homes. Through the generosity of the Piedmont and Western NC Firefighters’ Associations, the ECFA has established a small fund to try to help our own. This program is quite simple. Just fill out an online form and hit the Send button. The requests will be reviewed by ECFA members and verified through the respective fire chief of the member making the request. Requests will be filled as soon as we are able, and in an amount to be determined based on the number of requests. This program is for ECFA members only.
Requests for aid are limited to primary home damage repairs and recovery. Members making requests must demonstrate the process they have followed for assistance from insurance, FEMA and similar programs, and the current status of those processes.
Follow this link to access the request form.
If you would like to make a donation, checks may be made to the Eastern Carolina Firefighters Association and mailed to the ECFA, 747 NC Highway 461, Ahoskie, North Carolina 27910. Deadline is December 31st!
