At the July quarterly ECFA meeting in Perquimans County, scholarship chair Ed Weigl announced the 2022 recipients. Each scholarship is in the amount of $1,500.

- Ernie Bryant General Scholarship, Kayla Batten, Stricklands Crossroads VFD
- Alex Stanland General Scholarship, Garrett Johnson, Four Oaks VFD
- Jay Howell General Scholarship, Emma Proctor, Grantham VFD
- Glenn Jernigan Emergency Services Scholarship, Haven Hepburn, Havelock FR
- Aubrey Rivenbark Emergency Services Scholarship, Don Edwards, Wilson FR
Also awarded were two grants to allow departments attend the annual SAFRE conference in Raleigh. The $750 grants recipients were:
- Pasquotank Nixonton VFD
- Union Rural VFD
